‘SPECIAL EFFECT’ animation event

Experimental animation, anyone?

SPECIAL EFFECT premieres in November and produced to exhibit the animation talents of 17 individual commissioned artists. Brought together with inspiration from Andrei Tarkovsky’s STALKER, the show aims to explore ‘the zone’ by having each artist create a 30-second animated video piece.

According to their Kickstarter page, “As Tarkovsky put it, “The zone is a zone, it’s life, and as he makes his way across it a man may break down or he may come through. Whether he comes through or not depends on his own self-respect, and his capacity to distinguish what matters and what is merely passing.”

Whoa!

The project is set to premiere at the Museum of Moving Image in NYC, then onto Australia and New Zealand. Before any of that can happen, they need your help. Check out the Kickstarter for more info and a crazy great video that gives a better sense of what they are all about.
