The Curious Mystery are heading into Texas tomorrow, and they’ll be at SXSW on March 15th! They’re playing three official shows in the three days they’re there, at the Snack Bar, the Bat Bar, and Club 606, with a bunch of bands (Sleepy Sun, Maus Haus, Soft White Sixties, & a bunch of others). Check out all of their SXSW dates, as well as the rest of their tour dates, on our shows page.
Some TEXAS footage! This is the last song we played at our last set at SXSW, the K Records showcase at Cheer Up Charlies. My drumset was falling apart there and I guess I was getting a little bit antsy.. kind of let the tempo go wild (I think my high school marching band reflexes kicked in at the end!) Thanks to the unknown audience person who filmed this.

Just think, in less than a month you could be chin deep in a BBQ sandwich, basking in the warmth (hopefully) of Austin, Texas, and enjoying the music of K bands at our unofficial SXSW show at Cheer Up Charlie’s on March 18th. Go get a pen! Write this down!
Where: Cheer Up Charlie’s
When: March 18th from 5:30PM-2AM
Why: For SXSW, duh.
Who:
Get pumped!
Wonder what Kimya Dawson has been up to lately? She’s one busy lady, but she’s somehow found the time to get into Dub Narcotic studio here and there… and has some seriously awesome music to show for it.
We are proud to present “Miami Advice,” a soaring new track from Kimya’s upcoming full-length, Thunder Thighs (KLP229). This track also features Aesop Rock and the Olympia Free Choir. Thunder Thighs will be released in Summer/Fall 2011 on K.
Be on the lookout for Kimya at K’s showcase at SXSW in March, and more information about Thunder Thighs in the future!
Mercurial Olympia rock misfits Christmas have two new releases in early 2011, including “Namiot,” a 7” Dub Narcotic Disco Plate (with a Selector Dub Narcotic remix on side B!), and self-titled 11-song LP produced by Arrington de Dionyso on Highfives & Handshakes/CMRTYZ in mid-March.
Christmas will also be part of K’s soon-to-be-announced SXSW showcase in March! These will be the first Christmas shows outside of the Pacific Northwest since the bands US tour in August & September 2010. This band slays live, so make sure to catch one of their sets!
“Namiot” (featured here previously) is now available for order from the K Mail Order Dept.
This song, “Whips of Love,” is the lead track on Christmas’ self-title debut full-length.
