Did you ever get a chance to see Wolf Colonel (or just Jason Anderson by himself)? If so, you already know that he’s awesome, but if not, you can watch this video from around 2001 in Grand Junction, CO with a full band and pretend that you did!
Check out this slick video (their words!) of Generifus at Nitetrotter on Sunday, along with five other beautiful songs recorded live in Logan Square in Chicago! SO GOOD!
This video is from a show that Arrington de Dionyso just played a few days ago on his European tour. It’s got the kind of brilliant, blaring intensity you’d expect from a performer like Arrington. A song boiled down to its raw, bare bones.
The new Curious Mystery video for “Be Still” is a tangle of dancing, VHS static, and pop sweetness. ”Be Still” is from the Curious Mystery’s upcoming International Pop Underground 7” single, due out on June 26th. Catch them on tour: They’ll be travelling through California starting on March 8th, and heading down to the Arizona, Texas (SXSW!) and beyond, meeting up with the Hive Dwellers along the way, and ending up at a residency at the Ace Hotel in NYC! Get more info on the shows page.
The Maxines performing “Drugstore” at the release show they played at the Midnight Sun here in Olympia for their new “Drugstore” single. This is a great example of the Maxines’ unique brand blown-out buzzy garage pop, with both Matt and Kelly screaming over the messy cacophony of their instruments.
This Glasslands show looks like it was awesome! Thanks for sharing your video blearyeyedbrooklyn!
This video stars Arrington de Dionyso, demonstrating some of the shit people tend to say in Olympia. Calvin and Kimya get name-drops, too! Arrington is also playing his first show of a European tour tonight in Milano, Italy!! Check out the dates on our shows page!
Our K hero-naut Joel get’s down at the bowling alley! Yes, its true, we K people are totally in-the-know with the modern dance grooves.

IT’S RIDICULOUS HOW COOL THIS IS!! (please make sure your head doesn’t explode) Arrington de Dionyso (Old Time Religion, Malaikat dan Singa) demonstrates how he creates lathe-cut records (using plastic plates)—the raddest DIY project I’ve ever seen!
This is incredible. Phil Elverum (of The Microphones and Mount Eerie) is doing karaoke to a Li’l Wayne song. He busts some killer moves, and his rapping skills are impressive to say the least. This was presumably shot by Arrington de Dionyso.
Mount Eerie’s new Dub Narcotic Disco Plate, Distorted Cymbals, will be released on February 7th.
Here’s a video of Angelo Spencer et Les Hauts Sommets playing a couple of songs on a boat, part of a new web-series called Fishing With Clyde. After the song, there’s a discussion of bees and peanuts, as well as George Washington Carver—or just “Carve” to his friends. There’s even a puppet show, featuring the voice of Karl Blau!
LOOK // Danielle Ruse and Sarah Cass go for a walk in the snow outside of the K office, Wednesday, January 17th.
Beautiful original score by Ashley Erikkson (of LAKE), “Conch,” previously unreleased.
