I WANNA WALK LIKE A MONKEY

Here’s the last Song of the Day for 2011… The Maxines rip yr face off with a cover of the Big Bopper’s “You Made a Monkey Out of Me”. This song was recorded during the same Dub Narcotic Studio session as three of the four songs on the upcoming Drugstore EP (IPU140), which will be released on January 24, 2012. If you wanna hear more, check out “Drugstore”, Brenda Lee cover “Sweet Nothings”, Planned Parenthood benefit track “Honestly”, and blistering instrumental “Our Earth Name”.

Oh, and curious about the original Bopper tune? Catch it here.

Oh my goodness, The Maxines were just on Nardwuar the Human Serviette’s radio show on WFMU! This mayhem took place last Friday - it’s a 7”-only special show, complete with discussion spouse-bashing, sailor punk, young drummers, and lots of excellent jams (courtesy of Matt Murillo’s dreamy collection of 45s).

This show is a doozy, listen here: http://wfmu.org/flashplayer.php?version=2&show=42703&archive=73549

Oh, and if you’re looking for the Veemo (vimeo) link mentioned in the show, it’s here: http://vimeo.com/28115953

Here’s some vintage video of the Maxines! Oh, the early days - this is “Drugstore” from a June 2010 at Le Voyeur. The video was shot by Chris Sutton (Hornet Leg, COCO, etc).
