A creatively-edited and slightly destroyed gem from the K VHS archives - The Mummies demolish the North Shore Surf Club and wreck general havoc on Olympia during the International Pop Underground Convention in Olympia, WA in August 1991.

The Maxines - Our Earth Name
[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]
150 plays

This song is so scary we couldn’t post it for Halloween. The Maxines shred through “Our Earth Name” and leave nothing standing.

And you thought they were cute.

“Our Earth Name” is an extra track from the same session as the Drugstore EP (IPU140), the A-side of which can be blasted here. And here’s a cover song. Need it live? They’ll be blasting through the Pacific NW (yes Canada, this includes you) next weekend. Do whatever you have to do to keep it together until the big day: Drugstore drops on January 24, 2012.

Pine Hill Haints - Tales of Crime (Part 1)
[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]
50 plays

The Pine Hill Haints are known ‘round these parts as one of the hardest working bands in the biz, and you know the lore goes: “practice makes perfect” and all that. But we’re serious - they just keep on truckin’, putting out great release after great release after great release, and blowing away audiences across the country. The PHH powerhouse cannot be stopped.

Anyhoo, the Haints are about to see the release of a new volume in the International Pop Underground series of 7” 45s, this one entitled “Tales of Crime”. The tracks are both named “Tales of Crime” but in different acts. Here’s the first part!

The Maxines - Sweet Nothin's
[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]
240 plays

A mid-Monday dose of Little Medium Miss Dynamite: The Maxines blow it up with a cover of Brenda Lee’s classic “Sweet Nothin’s.”

Sultry punk rock? Why not, we say - we like it that way.

This song was recorded at Dub Narcotic Studio in Olympia, WA in May 2011. Other songs from this session will be featured on The Maxines’ upcoming Drugstore 7” EP (IPU140) on January 24, 2012. Need more medicine? Get your dose of the title track here. Watch your dosage, this stuff packs a wallop.
